About GCA

Gateway Christian Academy is a traditional Christian school.  We are for parents and students who truly desire a decidedly Christian education.

We emphasise biblical values and worldview in every class and chapel, and in our standards of conduct for students and faculty members.

All students, employees, and volunteers attend a Bible-believing church every week.

Our dress code requires modest skirts for girls, and business casual to dressy attire for all students.

Students, staff, and faculty are expected to live a lifestyle that honors God.  Certain moral violations, as well as repeated violations of the rules in our student handbook, may result in parent-directed corporal punishment, suspension, or expulsion.

While we love all children, GCA is not a reform school for students with problems that require a higher level of professional care than we can provide.

A Brief History of GCA

Gateway Christian Academy was founded in 1983 under the leadership of Pastor D. Juaken Dumas as a ministry of Parklane Baptist Church.  Charles Zinn, a former executive with the May Department Stores Company, was our first principal.  In the late 1980s, the school's name was changed to First Baptist Academy.

From the 1983 to the 2008 academic year, our school was located on Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia, Illinois.  During those years, GCA has taken part in training literally hundreds of young people.  In addition to our day school, dozens of students have taken advantage of the GCA Home School program.

Our most exciting step of growth takes place in the summer of 2009, as plans are being finalized for GCA and our parent ministry, Gateway Baptist Church of Greater St. Louis, to move to the O'Fallon/Shiloh area.  We look forward to serving a new generation through the ministry of Christian education.
